Sleuths from the Anti-Human Trafficking wing of Salem Police recently arrested a woman along with her mother-in-law from Karuppur on Wednesday for attempting to sell her two daughters to a gang.

Highly placed police sources said that Alamelu (45) and her mother-in-law Chinnaponnu had attempted to sell the girls aged 12 and 9 to the unidentified gang a few days ago.

However, the gang members had not turned up, forcing them to return.
