Two teachers were suspended on charges of not taking up admission and not distributing books and uniform to students of the Panchayat Union Middle School at Ezhichur.
Enquiries revealed that parents of pupils who had attained the requisite age to be enrolled in class I at the PU Middle School were upset as their request for admission of their wards had not been entertained by the school administration.
Further, the books and other education materials and uniform clothes were not properly distributed to the 150 students of the institution. When they approached the administration to sort out the issues, they were turned away by Anandi, the school head, and Dhansi, the teacher in charge of distribution of books, notebooks and uniform materials.
Irked by the attitude of the teachers, the villagers staged a demonstration in front of the school on Monday demanding immediate action against the headmaster and the teacher.
Subsequently, the District Elementary Education Department placed the two under suspension on the charge of not executing their duty properly, sources said.
