2 suspected Maoists in judicial custody

Two suspected Maoists, R. Shyna (42) and Anoop Mathew George (32), were on Monday produced before a magistrate court here in connection with a case of alleged forgery and cheating by using proof of identity of someone else to get a SIM card from a mobile phone operator.

The Magistrate remanded them to judicial custody till August 8. Police sources said the Q Branch police had rounded up K. Ganesh (45) on charge of using a SIM card that had been used for naxalite activities. However, Ganesh had said that he had not used any such SIM card, but a photocopy of his ration card had been misused.

Based on his complaint, the Sivakasi town police had registered a case of cheating and forgery on February 2, 2016.
