18 injured at jallikattu events

 491 bulls participated in the jallikattu held at Azhagambalpuram Muthanakurichi in Pudukottai district on Saturday.

491 bulls participated in the jallikattu held at Azhagambalpuram Muthanakurichi in Pudukottai district on Saturday.

Eighteen persons were injured, four of them seriously, at jallikattu events held in two villages in Pudukottai district on Saturday.

Both the events were inaugurated by Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar in the presence of S.Ganesh, Collector.

As many as 491 bulls were released in the jallikattu held at Azhagambalpuram in Muthanakurichi.

Forty bull tamers participated. Eight persons were injured in the event and one among them was admitted to the Pudukottai Government Medical College Hospital.

Over 640 bulls and nearly 100 bull tamers participated in the jallikattu held at Kottaikadu.

Ten persons sustained injuries in the event and three of them were referred to the medical college hospital in Pudukottai, police sources said.
