Fourteen child marriages were stopped by revenue officials on February 6 in Dharmapuri district, according to a release from R. Lilly, Collector, here.
The release said that six marriages were stopped in Dharmapuri taluk, four each in Palacode and Harur taluks. The marriages were stopped by the respective Tahsildhars following tip-offs. Revenue officials sensitized the parents about the evils of child marriage.
A written affidavit also obtained from the parents of both sides by the collector pledging that they will not indulge in child marriage.
