Thirteen persons, who were travelling in a tourist bus, sustained injuries after the vehicle toppled near Ambur in the early hours of Monday.

According to police, 41 persons — all residents of Pennagaram in Dharmapuri — were travelling in the bus to visit the Golden Temple at Sripuram. Bus driver Balamurugan (42) had asked the vehicle’s cleaner Vishnuvaradhan (27) to drive the vehicle as he was feeling sleepy.

However, Balamurugan lost control of the vehicle due to high speed when it was nearing Jameen village in Ambur taluk and the bus toppled on its side on the road. The accident occurred at 3.30 a.m. Thirteen passengers sustained injuries.
