11 injured as buses collide

Eleven passenger, including three women and a one-and-a-half-year-old male child, were injured when a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus rammed a stationary government bus at Thiruvarangi near Parthibanur near here on Thursday.

Police said Paramakudi-Thirupuvanam government town bus, proceeding towards Thirupuvanam, stopped at Thiruvarangi bus stop, when the TNSTC bus, going from Paramakudi to Madurai, rammed it from behind.

Eight persons travelling on the TNSTC bus and three passengers on the town bus were injured, the police added. Three of the victims, who sustained serious injuries, were admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai, and the others to Paramakudi Government Hospital. Drivers of both the buses escaped unhurt, the police said.

Local police have registered a case.
