‘108 ambulances in bad shape’

Members of 108 Ambulance Workers Union, Tamil Nadu, on Tuesday sought the district administration’s intervention to rectify the damaged conditions of the vehicles used for the medical service.

According to a petition they submitted to the Collector S. Prabakar, the vehicles were not being maintained periodically, and that the damaged vans could pose danger to the patients.

For some of the vehicles, maintenance was not carried out despite crossing the 3 lakh km. mark. Medical equipment attached to the vans were also under repairs, they said and complained that the employees highlighting the shortcomings were targeted by the entity that runs the service
