February 12, 2017 01:19 am | Updated 01:19 am IST - CHENNAI:

A ‘missed call’ campaign launched on Thursday in support of the AIADMK faction led by Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam has garnered 33 lakh missed calls in 48 hours, one of the campaign organisers has claimed.

The organisers of the #IsupportOPS drive asked the public to give a missed call to the phone number 92892 22028, if they stood with Mr. Panneerselvam in his battle for power against party interim general secretary V.K. Sasikala.

“We received 33 lakh calls in a space of 48 hours,” claimed Aspire K Swaminathan, the party's former IT wing secretary and chief organiser of the campaign.

According to Mr. Swaminathan, around 2.5 lakh calls came from outside Tamil Nadu, including 1.5 lakh from abroad.
