Bench will hear special leave petition on May 28

The Supreme Court will hear on May 28 a special leave petition Rajesh Talwar and his wife Nupur Talwar filed against an order of the Allahabad High Court that rejected their plea for summoning 13 witnesses in the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case.

Shivek Trehan, counsel for the dentist couple, prayed before a vacation Bench of Justices B.S. Chauhan and Dipak Misra for early listing of the case.

In their petition against the High Court’s May 21 order that upheld the trial court’s ruling, they said the prosecution had chosen to examine only 39 out of the 141 witnesses cited along with the final report and dropped a number of material witnesses, including CBI and investigating officers.
