Talks with private sector on reservation

August 25, 2013 02:10 am | Updated 02:10 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Social Justice Minister Kumari Selja on Saturday informed the Lok Sabha that the government was in talks with the private sector on implementing reservation in private jobs. The government wanted to do this amicably and did not want to take any stringent step, she said.

Tribal Affairs Minister Kishore Chandra Deo said the government was working out a mechanism to monitor the flow of funds from various central ministries to the States for tribals’ welfare.

The House later approved the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Orders (Amendment) Bill, 2012 and the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Second Amendment) Bill, 2012. Both the Bills allow modification of list of SC/ST in some States.
