Swamy seeks CBI probe

July 04, 2014 02:23 am | Updated November 16, 2021 06:15 pm IST - Chennai:

Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the CBI to probe the cause of the ‘unnatural death’ of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor. .

The SIT should not only have “IB and RAW nominees, but also of the Enforcement Directorate in view of the fact that the cause of death could have something to do with her threat of disclosure of money laundering in the IPL scam, involving the son-in-law of a powerful political figure of the UPA,” Dr. Swamy said.

Pointing out that the affidavit now filed in the Central Administrative Tribunal by Sudhir Gupta, Head of the Forensic Department in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, had “fully re-opened the issue,” Dr. Swamy said in his letter to the Prime Minister that under these circumstances “a SIT inquiry should be set up under your direction.”
