Union Surface Transport Minister Oscar Fernandes has claimed that the CNN-IBN-The Hindu election tracker survey conducted by the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) has in fact showed the increasing vote share of the Congress in 2009, 2012 and 2013 surveys.
Talking to journalists here on Tuesday, he said that as per the survey conducted by the same organisation in 2009, 2012 and 2013 showed that the Congress was gaining vote share and its vote share had not diminished. “Still there is time for elections to the Lok Sabha and by the time of the elections the Congress would gain more ground and vote share also would increase.”
Asked whether there would be a snap mid-term poll, Mr. Fernandes said “we would complete our full term and the elections to the Lok Sabha would be held in the normal course and we would not prefer a mid-term poll.”
To another question on the statement of the senior Congress leader Chaudhary Birender Singh, MP that there were people who shell out Rs. 100 crore to get Rajya Sabha seat, Mr. Fernandes said that “The person who had reportedly made the statement provided the answer also to this and I do not have anything to add or react.”
