A special court here on Wednesday remanded the former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman, Suresh Kalmadi, to 14 more days of judicial custody at the Tihar Central Jail.
The remand of his co-accused, the former OC officials Lalit Bhanot and V. K. Verma, in the alleged criminal conspiracy to award the Timing, Scoring and Results (TSR) system contract, was extended until May 24, when the 90-day mandatory period for filing the charge sheet in the case is set to expire, following which they are eligible for bail. Mr. Bhanot and Mr. Verma were arrested on February 23.
Special Judge (Central Bureau of Investigation) Talwant Singh also extended the remand of the former OC Joint Director-General (Sports), A. S. V. Prasad, and Deputy Director-General (Procurement) Surjit Lal until June 1.
They were arrested along with Mr. Kalmadi by the CBI on April 25.
