President Pranab Mukherjee has cleared the appointment of the Chief Justices of Andhra Pradesh High Court and Himachal Pradesh High Court as Judges of the Supreme Court. They will be sworn in later this week.

Justice Ghose (60) who hails from West Bengal became a Judge of the Calcutta High Court in July 1997 before he was appointed Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court in December 2012. He will have a tenure of about five years in the Supreme Court.

Justice Joseph (59), who hails from Kerala became a Judge in July 2000 and he was appointed Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court in February 2010. He will have a tenure of five years and nine months in the Supreme Court. With their appointments the strength of Judges in the apex court will go up to 28.
