Sumithra Peries injured after accidental fall

Sri Lankan filmmaker Sumithra Peries (75), who is now in Goa taking part in the South Asian Film Festival (SAFF) which began on Friday, escaped with minor injury when she had an accidental fall at Dona Paula near here on Sunday.

Ms. Peries, after being given first-aid at a local hospital at Dona Paula, took part in a seminar on “Our films Global Films” later in the day, along with filmmakers from South Asian countries. They discussed various issues relating to the film industries in their respective countries of the South Asian region and analysed South Asian movies in global perspective.

The four-day festival, where over 50 movies from eight countries with focus on Afghanistan are being screened, will end on Monday.
