Congress MP T. Subbarami Reddy on Tuesday praised the way the economy has been managed, resulting in an upward trend at a time when leading economies of the world are suffering.
“I am very happy that the nation has weathered the turmoil of the global economy and with the great skill of the Finance Minister, India proved to have a better economy as compared to any country in the world,” Dr. Reddy said while taking part in the debate in the Rajya Sabha on the Finance Bill.
He praised the government's effort to increase allocation in social sectors such as education, health care and rural development as also the substantial hike in agriculture credit. Describing the move to extend the green revolution to eastern regions as innovative, he said this would help the States lagging behind in agriculture production. Dr. Reddy felt the decision to give incentives to people to set up cold storage would go a long way in reducing wastage of perishable fruits and vegetables as well as milk and poultry produce.
