Another Minister suffers ink attack

August 24, 2014 12:49 am | Updated 12:49 am IST - Pune:

A Shiv Sena activist hurled ink at State Revenue Minister and senior Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat on Saturday during his tour of Ahmednagar district. State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshavardhan Patil was similarly attacked last fortnight.

The incident took place at Rajapur village in Sangamner Taluk, where Mr. Thorat was inaugurating development works.

“According to reports, a Sena worker hurled ink at Mr. Thorat while he was stepping into his car. Much of it splattered on to his shirt. We think it is best not to accord much prominence to such a trivial matter,” said Satyajeet Tambe, a Youth Congress leader in Ahmednagar and Mr. Thorat’s nephew.

The police have taken the Sena worker, Bhausaheb Hase, into custody.

The reason behind his action were yet to be ascertained, the police said.
