A Sri Lankan court in Mallakam, near Jaffna, on Saturday ordered the release of 60 Indian fishermen and a total of 15 trawlers that were seized by the Sri Lankan Navy.

As many as 30 of the fishermen were arrested on November 4 last year while another 30 were arrested on December 12 on charges of poaching in Sri Lankan waters.

Meanwhile, the 111 fishermen who were released in Trincomalee continued to remain in a prison there, refusing to leave the country unless their trawlers are also released.

According to sources in the Indian mission, their boats are likely to be released on Monday.
