Cricketer S. Sreesanth had received several mails with hundreds of photographs of female models from a Bollywood’s ‘casting director,’ purportedly for advertising his brand called S36.
The Mumbai police have found several e-mail interactions from his seized laptop and mobile phones, in which a certain casting director had sent him the pictures.
The police raided a suburban five-star hotel on Friday night where Sreesanth and bookie Jiju Janardanan had independently booked a room each.
The casting director was called by the Mumbai police on Monday for interrogation. “According to his version, Sreesanth co-owns a company called S36. A film producer from Hyderabad is another partner. The casting director had interaction with him only through e-mails and Facebook. He sent the models’ photographs to Sreesanth, who sought more pictures,” said one of the officers who interrogated the casting director.
The Facebook page of ‘S36’ with Sreesanth’s photo on it says its products consist of packaged drinking water, apparels and sports goods. According to police sources, Sreesanth’s partner in Hyderabad could also be called for interrogation.
They have also found a list of contact numbers in the laptop. However all the contacts had coded names and police are in the process of identifying the persons. A photo of Sreesanth and ‘Jupiter’ (bookie) has also been found in the laptop. The police suspect that some e-mails have been deleted from his account and the cyber cell of Mumbai police have been asked to retrieve them.
The police have also received CCTV footage of a hotel that was raided on Friday night.
Meanwhile, the police custody of bookie Ramesh Vyas, who was arrested on May 14 and who is turning out to be the common link between two different cases of spot-fixing currently being probed by Delhi and Mumbai, was extended till May 22.
