To protest against price hike, poor law and order situation, corruption and unemployment, Samajwadi Party will launch a state-wide agitation on January 19, a party spokesman said here today.

“While protest will be held in all districts, a massive demonstration will be staged in Lucknow, which will be led by party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav,” SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said.

He said senior party leaders including state president Akhilesh Yadav will lead the protest in different parts of UP.

“A decision to launch a five-day agitation between January 19 to 23 against the state government was taken during party’s special convention held at Agra last year,” he said.

Mr. Chaudhary said as the session of UP Legislative Assembly was scheduled to start from January 21, the party had rescheduled its programme and now agitation will be held only on January 19.

“SP MLAs will raise the issues related to the common people in the house,” he added.
