Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren on Saturday presented himself before a local court in a 36-year-old double murder case, his second such appearance after taking over the reins of the State in December 2009.
Additional District and Sessions Judge N.N. Singh concluded the hearing after Mr. Soren’s counsel Sanjay Singh completed his argument in the case. Judge Singh also reserved the judgment till April 17, 2010.
It was Mr. Soren’s second appearance before the court after becoming the Chief Minister on December 30. He had last appeared on February 3, 2010.
Mr. Soren was made one of the accused in the double murder case which took place on April 15, 1974 over slaughtering of a goat by a group of persons at Kudko village under Pritand police station in Giridih district.
The FIR, which was filed by one Bahadur Singh, accused Mr. Soren of heading a group that allegedly killed Khirodar Singh and Chundi Singh following the slaughter of a goat while another person went missing.
The charge sheet was filed in 1978 and Mr. Soren is the sole accused now since eight others were acquitted in 1986.
