Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday paid floral tributes to Jyoti Basu at the West Bengal Assembly premises where his body was lying in state.
Ms. Gandhi, accompanied by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, paid homage to the departed Marxist leader.
Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury accompanied her.
Mr. Mukherjee also placed a wreath on the body.
