A day after the Supreme Court ordered a CBI probe into the alleged fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh in Gujarat, his family members are happy and hope that they would get justice now.

“We are hopeful of getting justice now following the Court’s order given that the Gujarat police were not investigating the case in a right way,” Sohrabuddin’s brother Shahnawaz Hussain told PTI on Wednesday here.

“The CBI probe will bring out the truth to the fore,” he said, adding, they will request the premier agency to trace the body of Soharabuddin’s wife which has not been found yet.

Mr. Hussain said for the family real justice would come when the policemen arrested in connection with Sohrabuddin’s killing are awarded the punishment.

Sohrabuddin’s family including his father Anwaruddin, mother Zebunnisha Begam and four brothers live at Zirniya village near here.

Zebunnisha had been the sarpanch of the village. The Gujarat police allegedly picked up Sohrabuddin along with his wife Kauser Bee and his aide Tulsi Prajapati in November 2005 near Ahmedabad and killed them in an encounter.
