February 09, 2013 01:28 am | Updated 01:28 am IST - Mumbai:

In a major development, six security personnel and four more civilians were arrested on Friday in connection with the January 6 Dhule riots.

The arrests come more than a month after the riots, which left six persons of a minority community dead and more than 400 people injured, apart from widespread destruction of property.

Details of unrestrained and indiscriminate police action in the form of chilling video clips surfaced soon after the rioting, along with a growing clamour from activists and fact-finding teams to take stringent action against errant policemen.

The arrested personnel are four State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) men Liladhar Sonawane, Ganesh Patil, Chabbulal Vende and D.S. Sonawane, all attached to Group 6, ‘C’ Company of the SRPF, Dhule, and two local police sepoys Jawahar Pawar and Yogesh Shinde.
