A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the rape of a minor girl from Manipur by her landlord’s son at Munirka in South Delhi two days ago.

“We have constituted an SIT, which will work under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South). The SIT will carry out detailed investigations. The victim’s statement has been recorded under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code,” a police officer said on Sunday night.

The accused, Ashish Tokas alias Vicky, was arrested on Saturday and produced before a court, which remanded him in police custody for two days. He faces charges of kidnapping, rape and assault and has also been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Ashish, who was captured on a closed-circuit television camera installed near the victim’s house, has refused to take part in a test identification parade.
