May 27, 2013 11:32 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 08:22 pm IST - GURGAON:

Senior Congress leader V.C. Shukla (84), who was injured in a Maoist attack and admitted to Medanta hospital here on Sunday, is said to be “critical but stable.”

“He is on ventilator support and dialysis is going on. We are trying to remove the toxins. Due to old age, the treatment may be prolonged,” Medanta chairman and managing director Naresh Trehan told journalists. He said Mr. Shukla, who had suffered two bullet injuries in the chest and one in the abdomen, was operated upon to remove the fragmentations. He said there was an intestinal injury and toxicity in the body.
