Shiv Sena MLA arrested for attack on KRV leader, TV channel

Police on Saturday arrested Shiv Sena MLA Rajesh Kshirsagar for attacking Kannada Rakshana Vedike leader Syed Mansoor at a television news studio at Kolhapur for his alleged remarks against Sena chief Bal Thackeray on the Belgaum issue.

Kshirsagar and eight others were arrested at 1.30 pm and later released on a bail of Rs 15,000, an official from the Shahupuri police station told PTI over phone.

Syed Mansoor, a Kannada Rakshana Vedike leader was physically assaulted by a group of Shiv Sena activists in a television news studio at Kolhapur on Friday night.

According to sources, Mr. Mansoor was participating in the televised programme on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border row on which he is said to have made some remarks on Mr. Thackeray.

The Sena activists and supporters of the MLA Rajesh Kshirsagar barged into the television studio. Apart from attacking Mr. Mansoor they also caused damage to the studio property, police said.
