Union Textiles Minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao has been replaced by Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde as the permanent invitee of the Congress Working Committee on Thursday.
Mr. Rao had been given twin posts of Cabinet Minister in the recent Cabinet reshuffle as well as permanent invitee to the CWC, the party’s highest decision-making body, after he openly expressed resentment over denial of Cabinet berth to him during the last reshuffle.
Wrong signals
He went ahead to submit his resignation which he later took back. The reasons behind the development are immediately not known, but Congress sources said the Telangana MPs and senior leaders were opposed to the elevation of Mr. Rao, a vocal supporter of united State, as it could send wrong signals to the people in the region. This could have prompted the leadership to reconsider its decision, they felt.
