Actor Shah Rukh Khan on Thursday denied that he abused any woman during the altercation at Wankhede stadium late on Wednesday night. His group was involved in a scuffle with officials of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). On the contrary, he accused the security staff at Wankhede stadium of manhandling the children accompanying him.
“Their behaviour is unpardonable. I think they should apologise to me,” he told reporters here.
Asked if he would register a complaint against them, he said he wouldn't complain for such silly things.
He also denied that he was drunk. “It is extremely fashionable, sometimes, to say a celebrity was drunk,” he retorted to repeated questions.
He denied that the children accompanying him or any of the group members had violated any rules. “There was nothing illegal. I wasn't on the pitch. We know the rules,” the actor said, denying that he caused any public nuisance.
Elaborating on the chain of events, he said that he had gone to the ground to pick up his children and some other kids accompanying them, and that he planned to return with them in the bus. He said he reached the ground very late, and that the prize distribution ceremony was already done by then.
“I went to congratulate my team members. As I was returning, I saw a security guard manhandling little girls. I apprehended him. By that time, another man accosted me. He was aggressive and I didn't like it,” he said, alleging that more than 15 persons charged at him.
“I didn't want to be on the field. I had just come to pick up my children. They abused me first. I didn't like the way they behaved with the little girls,” he said.
He said that the 13 children were playing on one side of the stadium with a ball and that they didn't enter the ground. “I have no clarification to give. They should look at their association and the high-handed attitude of some people.”
He said the police intervened and asked him to go away.
