Security forces kill two militants in Kashmir

Two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of south Kashmir early on Thursday morning.

The encounter broke out in a forest area of Kulgam, 70 kms from here, when security forces launched an operation following specific information about presence of militants, a defence spokesman said.

The militants hiding in the forests opened fire on the search party and in the ensuing gunfight two militants were killed, he said.

The identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.

The gun battle was going on when reports last came in.
