With counting to be taken up on Wednesday in Jharkhand, the Congress though exuding confidence of achieving the magic figure of 41 in the 81-member house, would welcome support of any secular party in government formation.

Stating that it had a pre-poll alliance with the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (P), JPCC president Pradeep Kumar Balmachu said that this should be able to secure the magic figure.

Asked about the alliance falling short of 41 seats, he said “that situation will not come, but, we welcome any secular party. The final decision will be taken by the party high command.”

Denying reports that the party might consider a non-tribal as chief minister, he said “I don’t think our party will go for any new experiment. Jharkhand was neglected by Bihar. Jharkhand was created for the uplift of tribals.”

The Centre, he said, was committed to put Jharkhand in the league of developed states.
