The police in Maharashtra have launched a search for a National Bravery Award winner, who is suspected to have been kidnapped along with his brother from their home here, the police said on Saturday.

Nilesh Bhil, 12, received the National Bravery Award in January 2016 from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for saving a village boy from drowning in a water tank. He went missing on Tuesday night and his brother Ganpat disappeared two days later, according to their mother Sundarbai.

Investigating officer Vandana Sonawane said a special team has been set up and police stations in the city and surrounding areas have been told to be on the lookout for the boys. “We have published appeals to the public in the media, put up posters with photos of both the boys at public places, markets, bus and railway stations and our policemen are fanning out to track them.”

Sundarbai and her husband Revaram, both of whom work as labourers, last saw their sons together when they came back home from work on Tuesday.
