A teacher in a Zila Parishad school in Mohadi village of Bhandara district in Maharashtra was arrested late on Monday night after nine girl students accused him of molesting them over the last one year.

Teacher Raju Bagde was arrested by the police after the students, studying in class IX, alleged that he used indecent language and showed them obscene pictures on his mobile phone.

The incident came to light when one of the girls informed her parents, who complained to the Headmaster of the school last week, police said.

Mr. Bagde was reprimanded by the school authorities, following which he tendered an apology. However, the teacher continued with his indecent behavior, it was alleged.

On Monday, one of the girls lodged a complaint against the teacher in the Mohadi police station.

“We have arrested Mr. Bagde and booked him under sections 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code,” Anil Deshmukh, Inspector of Police, Mohadi Police station, told The Hindu .

The school authorities have also suspended Mr. Bagde.

Meanwhile, Lakahni, Murmadi and nearby villages in Bhandara continued to observe bandh on Monday demanding the arrest of the culprits involved in the rape and murder of three sister near Murmadi.
