SC seeks govenment's reply on laws, schemes for senior citizens

The Supreme Court on Friday sought a response from the Centre on a petition for the implementation of laws and welfare schemes to protect the rights of the elderly and the infirm and steps taken to establish old age homes in every district of the country. A Bench led by Chief Justice of India T.S. Thakur asked NGO HelpAge India and National Legal Services Authority for assistance on the petition filed by former Union Law Minister Ashwani Kumar, which also sought a hike in budget allocation for the purpose.
