SC refuses to stay NBW against Bhujbal’s son

May 19, 2016 02:17 am | Updated 02:17 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to stay a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Pankaj Bhujbal, son of senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chaggan Bhujbal, in a money laundering case.

A vacation Bench led by Justice A.M. Sapre asked Mr. Pankaj Bhujbal to approach the Bombay High Court for consideration of the plea seeking protection from arrest.

When Mr. Pankaj Bhujbal’s side argued that one of the accused in the case has already got a stay, the Bench shot back, saying the “accused who was granted relief has first gone to Bombay High Court. If he can go to the High Court, why can’t you go to the High Court?” The apex court had earlier stayed the NBW of Krishna Chamankar, one of the 52 accused in the case.
