The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Election Commission (EC) to decide the representation of an all- woman political party seeking the symbol of ‘kamadhenu’ (holy cow) for it.

A bench of Justices S. S. Nijjar and A. K. Sikri asked the Commission to decide the plea of All India Mahila Democratic Front within a week after the representation is made to it.

The party pleaded that it had made several representations to the Commission for allotment of ‘kamadhenu’ symbol but EC had not taken a decision.

“The party represented to the Commission for allotment of a common symbol since 2012 but the authority has not yet responded to the said representations,” it said.

The Court after hearing the submission asked the Commission to decide on the representation.
