Former Satyam Computer chairman B. Ramalinga Raju appealed to the special court to take a lenient view in the quantum of sentence imposed on him in view of the social service done by Satyam Computers as the technology partner of `108’ ambulance services operated by Emergency Management and Research Institute here.
He told the magistrate that lakhs of people had benefited from philanthropic activities of EMRI and also the Byrraju Foundation. Ramalinga Raju’s brother Rama Raju also made a similar plea to the court.
The responses of the brothers were invited by the magistrate B.V.L.N. Chakravarthi while recording the statements of the accused on quantum of sentence after announcing that he had found all of them guilty as charged by the CBI.
