Yet another agent of a deposit-mobilising company in West Bengal who was under pressure from investors allegedly committed suicide at Belgharia in North 24 Parganas district, police said on Sunday.

With this incident the number of people who have died after several collective investment schemes went bust last month has reached 15. A majority of those who have died have invested in the Saradha group.

Swapan Majumdar, an agent of the Ramel group of companies, was found dead at his residence late on Saturday night. He had hanged himself from the ceiling. According to his family members and neighbours, he had been hounded by depositors.

Meanwhile, more than 100 applications filed by depositors against the Saradha group were found beside the railway tracks in the State’s Bardhaman district between Kalna and Guptipara stations. The applications seeking return of their money, were addressed to the Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice (retd.) S.K. Sen and carried the panel’s seal. So far more than four lakh applications have been submitted.
