Law applies equally to all: BJP

August 29, 2014 02:32 am | Updated November 16, 2021 05:40 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

The Bharatiya Janata Party maintained on Thursday that “the law is the same for everyone” after a case was registered against Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda’s son on charges of rape and cheating following a complaint by a Kannada film actor.

“Mr. Gowda has explained his position. The law is the same for everyone,” said BJP spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain when asked about the incident that came to light close on the heels of allegation of misconduct against the son of another Cabinet Minister.

The Minister denied the allegation, and accused his opponents of attempting to malign him and tarnish his family’s reputation.“ Let the law take its own course and justice prevail,” he told presspersons in Mangalore.
