The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Saturday said the reported confessions by Aseemanand, an accused in the February 2007 bomb explosion on the Samjhauta Express, show that it was not just a few extremist individuals who are involved in Hindutva terror groups, but also a wide network which includes top pracharaks of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

In a statement, the CPI (M) Polit Bureau said even though the investigations were belated, it was imperative that those responsible for the heinous crimes in Malegaon, Ajmer Sharif, Mecca Masjid and for the Samjhauta train attack be punished.

“The Hindutva terror groups have been spawned by the hate politics of the RSS,” the statement said.
