R.K. Laxman remains critical

January 20, 2015 12:52 am | Updated November 17, 2021 05:25 am IST - PUNE:

Eminent cartoonist R.K. Laxman, who was admitted to the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital here on Saturday, continues to be in a critical condition.

“He continues to be on mechanical ventilator and on drugs to maintain his blood pressure, as well as on renal replacement therapy,” Dr. Sameer Jog told The Hindu on Monday. Mr. Laxman, who suffered a urinary infection that led to a multiple-organ failure, continues to be in an unconscious state. Yet, he was holding on to his vital parameters, doctors said.

“He developed breathing problems and low blood pressure. We are praying for his recovery,” said Mr. Laxman’s daughter-in-law Usha Srinivasan.
