Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) involved in water conservation will meet at the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, on Monday to discuss the strategy for creating a conducive environment in the States for a comprehensive river policy.
“We are going to hold a meeting for deciding the strategy for a State-level river conservation policy. Nearly 30 organisations are going to participate in it. It is a part of the on-going process for creating awareness of the need for a river policy,” Magsaysay award-winning water conservationist Rajendra Singh told The Hindu from Pune on Sunday.
Mr. Singh said a group of activists who had set out to spread awareness of river conservation will reach Delhi on Monday. “Their journey is called Nadi Kooch Yatra. They will cover 20 States.”
