The former Madras High Court judge, R. Regupathi, on Saturday said he was neither scared nor confused in the context of media reports on his letter to the then Chief Justice of the court on an advocate's alleged attempt to influence him using the name of A. Raja, then Union Minister, in a case.
On his arrival here from New Delhi, Justice Regupathi said he had clearly mentioned — in his July 2, 2009 letter to Justice H.L. Gokhale — the name of Mr. Raja, which was taken by advocate R.K. Chandramohan for securing anticipatory bail for two persons. It was there in the order passed by a Division Bench this month, said Justice Regupathi.
The Bench suspended Mr. Chandramohan as Chairman of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. It cited Mr. Regupathi's letter, wherein he said he had disapproved of the conduct of Mr. Chandramohan and that the anticipatory bail matter would be disposed of in accordance with the law, if listed before him.
Justice Regupathi said he was never scared or confused. Nor did he ever seek security.
