The rebel AIADMK members in both Houses of Parliament demanded a probe by a Central agency into the circumstances surrounding the death of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

In the Lok Sabha, proceedings were adjourned for several minutes following a protest by about half a dozen AIADMK members, who gathered in the Well demanding a probe. They walked out after the Speaker turned down the request.

Carrying placards, three AIADMK members in the Rajya Sabha also went into the well and returned to their seats after Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien allowed them to raise the issue during zero hour.

V. Maitreyan demanded that the Central government order a probe either by the CBI or by a SIT, or a judicial inquiry into the death of Jayalalithaa, amid disruptions from other party members.
