Rear Admiral Jha appointed Joint Chief Hydrographer

Rear Admiral S.K. Jha has been appointed Joint Chief Hydrographer to the Government of India at the National Hydrographic Office in Dehradun. The officer, who was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral on October 22, was serving the Navy as the Commanding Officer of INS Venduruthy and Station Commander of the Naval Base here since July 2007.

Rear Admiral S.K. Jha, a specialist hydrographic surveyor and diver, was commissioned into the Navy January1, 1978. During his career, he has undertaken a large number of surveys in various capacities within India and in friendly foreign nations. As Principal Director of Hydrography at the Naval Headquarters, he was instrumental in enhancing co-operation with several friendly foreign countries in the field of hydrographic survey. The Rear Admiral, a recipient of Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry), is also the president of the Institution of Surveyors.
