Ravi’s appeal to Norway

December 01, 2012 10:59 pm | Updated November 17, 2021 04:31 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Overseas Affairs Ministry has urged Norway to release TCS employee V. Chandrasekhar and his wife Anupama from police custody in Oslo following a complaint of “harassment” filed against them by their son Sai Sriram.

Andhra Pradesh Minister for NRI Affairs D. Sridhar Babu contacted Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi and requested him to secure the couple’s release.

Mr. Babu told The Hindu that Mr. Ravi’s office deputed a representative to the Norwegian Embassy on Saturday with a request to release the couple. The government of Norway was asked to consider the possibility of exempting them from the sentence.

“Mr. Ravi has promised to provide legal assistance to the couple if there is no scope for exemption,” Mr. Babu said.
