Opposition members in the Rajya Sabha unanimously supported a suggestion made by CPI (M) leader T.N. Seema for a special sitting of the House to discuss continuing incidents of rape and the delay in bringing culprits to justice.

The House demanded that the issue of lynching of a rape accused in Dimapur and such incidents be also discussed in the House after Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav demanded a suo motu statement from the government in the House.
