The Rajasthan High Court on Friday ordered the State government to pay a compensation of Rs. 3 lakh to the minor girl who was sexually assaulted allegedly by Asaram Bapu. The compensation will be paid to the victim within a month.

Hearing the bail applications of two co-accused in the case, the High Court also directed the Sessions Court in Jodhpur, where a charge sheet in the case has been filed, to speed up trial by conducting daily proceedings and finish the case soon. The directions were passed at the High Court’s principal seat in Jodhpur. Justice Kanwaljit Singh Ahluwalia put the bail applications moved by co-accused Shilpi and Shiva on hold until the lower court takes cognisance of the charge sheet filed by the police and frames charges against the accused.

The Sessions Court was asked to take cognisance of the charge sheet by November 16.
