Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s helicopter, caught in inclement weather, made an emergency landing at Sevantri village in Rajsamand district on Thursday.
Ms. Raje was on her way to Sirohi in the southern part of the State. The chopper landed in an open field at Kheda, adjacent to the village.
A spokesperson in the Chief Minister’s Office here said Ms. Raje and the staff members accompanying here were safe. The Chief Minister stayed for a while in the village and paid obeisance at the Roopnarain temple nearby.
Ms. Raje and her entourage later left by road for Sirohi, where she had been invited to felicitate three philanthropists for their contribution to the restoration of a 400-year-old pond in Goyali village panchayat. The Chief Minister’s Jal Swavalamban Yojana has encouraged people to take initiatives for the rejuvenation of traditional sources of water.
The helicopter took off at 10:30 a.m. from Jaipur and landed after about an hour at Sevantri, 334 km away from the State Capital.
